Softball Game Preview: Xavier Hawks vs. West De Pere Phantoms

The Xavier Hawks will take on the West De Pere Phantoms at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West De Pere took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Xavier, who comes in off a win.

Xavier is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Shawano Community get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Monday. Xavier not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024 (when they won 14-0).

The result came thanks to Addison Hervey's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Joy Krull was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since April 3rd. Elsa Dvoracek was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs.

Meanwhile, West De Pere fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Bay Port on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They lost 10-2 to the Pirates.

West De Pere now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Xavier, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Xavier skirted past West De Pere 5-4 when the teams last played on April 10th. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Phantoms have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
