Softball Game Preview: Sanger Apaches vs. Clovis East Timberwolves

The Sanger Apaches will head out to face off against the Clovis East Timberwolves at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Sanger is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Sanger blew Reedley out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Reedley got their revenge. Sanger fell just short of Reedley by a score of 3-1.

Samantha Guerra was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierra Wyrick, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, Clovis East sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Redwood on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Timberwolves in their matchups with the Rangers: they've now won three in a row.

Chloe Solis looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aliana Fierro, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Eliana Massicci also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Sanger's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Clovis East, they now have a winning record of 4-3-1.

Sanger was able to grind out a solid victory over Clovis East when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sanger since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
