Softball Recap: Walled Lake Central Gets the Win

Walled Lake Central took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Churchill, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Vikings sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Chargers on Friday. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 19-7 loss the last time these two teams met.

Katelynn Cole spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Cameron Zaid was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Combs, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Walled Lake Central now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Churchill, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Chargers beat Walled Lake Central by a score of 15-5 later that day.
