The Hanford West Huskies will head out to square off against the Clovis West Golden Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Hanford West will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
On Tuesday, Hanford West was able to grind out a solid victory over Hanford, taking the game 8-3.
Rylan Montoya spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up six Ks. Those hits were her first of the season.
At the plate, Adyson Owens was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kennidy Perryman, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Hanford West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hanford only posted a batting average of .042.
Meanwhile, Clovis West put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their undefeated season alive. They walked away with a 4-1 win over Stockdale.
Clovis West also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Aliya Swillis gave up only one earned run on five hits. Swillis has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Clovis West let Madelyn Johnson and Suzy Khalatyan run wild. Johnson scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4, while Khalatyan scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Hanford West pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Clovis West, their record now sits at 5-0-1.
Clovis West's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hanford West has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. It's a different story for Clovis West, though, as they've only averaged .288. Will they be able to contain Hanford West's hitters?
