Preview: Overhills Jaguars vs. Terry Sanford Bulldogs
Overhills is 2-8 against Terry Sanford since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Overhills Jaguars will head out on the road to challenge the Terry Sanford Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Overhills is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
Last Friday, Overhills beat Pine Forest 49-37.
Eva Mcrae continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Sadyia Davis was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Terry Sanford can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They really took it to Western Harnett for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-13 win at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-3.
Terry Sanford's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amya Harrington, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaidiah Blake, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Overhills has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Terry Sanford, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Overhills have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 16.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Terry Sanford, though, as they've been averaging only 40.7 rebounds per game. Given Overhills' sizeable advantage in that area, Terry Sanford will need to find a way to close that gap.
Overhills came up short against Terry Sanford when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 49-45. Can Overhills avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
