Basketball Recap: Daeshia Buford's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. John's over Pinewood Prep

St. John lost against Pinewood Prep back in November of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Islanders took a 37-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers.

St. John's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daeshia Buford, who posted 12 points and six steals. Buford is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last 17 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Trinitie Sutton, who put up two points in addition to eight steals and five assists.

St. John's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

St. John's didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-33 win against Battery Creek on the 29th. As for Pinewood Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 34-22 defeat against Myrtle Beach on the 29th.
