Baseball Game Preview: Grayslake Central Rams vs. Antioch Sequoits

The Grayslake Central Rams will face off against the Antioch Sequoits at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Grayslake Central 3.7, Antioch 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Saturday, Grayslake Central earned a 7-2 victory over Von Steuben. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly five runs.

Antioch came out on top against Wilmot on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Sequoits walked away with a 6-2 win over the Panthers. The victory continues a trend for the Sequoits in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Teagan Mogle tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Willis, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Gissel, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Antioch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wilmot only posted an OBP of .367.

The win made it two in a row for Grayslake Central and bumps their season record up to 15-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Antioch, their win bumped their record up to 13-6-1.

Grayslake Central took their victory against Antioch when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-3 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Sequoits have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
