Basketball Game Preview: Southern Choctaw Indians vs. Leroy Bears

The Southern Choctaw Indians just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Leroy Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Leroy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Southern Choctaw, who comes in off a win.

Southern Choctaw is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Millry: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Southern Choctaw blew Millry out of the water with a 39-11 final score. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Wildcats are ranked 430th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Southern Choctaw's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Marcionna Young, who posted 16 points, and Haidynn Hill, who put up 12 points. The game was Young's third in a row with at least ten points.

Meanwhile, Leroy came up short against Mobile Christian on Saturday, falling 50-25. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Leopards: they've now lost five in a row.

Leroy now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Southern Choctaw, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Southern Choctaw couldn't quite finish off Leroy when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 51-48. Can Southern Choctaw avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
