Basketball Recap: Fairfield Christian Academy Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 27-27 at halftime, Fairfield Christian Academy was not quite Genoa Christian Academy's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They took a 56-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Genoa Christian Academy. The Knights' loss continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.

Genoa Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Laife Pearl led the charge by as he made all 10 shots he took to post 20 points and eight boards. Pearl is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last five games he's played. Evan Allgood was another key player, going 5 for 12 to rack up 13 points along with seven assists and three steals.

Fairfield Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Genoa Christian Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairfield Christian Academy will venture away from home to challenge Miller at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Genoa Christian Academy, they will head out to square off against Centerburg at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Centerburg has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
