Softball Recap: Nordonia Knights vs. Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees
Nordonia had lost six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-9 to make it seven. They fell 9-5 to the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bees this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-7 on April 9th.
Nordonia saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kirra Smeal, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Smeal's first of the season. Another was Haydn Paul, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
As for Brecksville-Broadview Heights, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games.
On Brecksville-Broadview Heights' side, Rowan Weber made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Weber has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Gianna Roth was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Camryn Bibbo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Coming up, Nordonia is taking a road trip to take on Hudson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brecksville-Broadview Heights, they will welcome Green at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
