Football Recap: Springfield Extends Winning Streak to Three

Springfield had won two straight games and Alex Caldwell did his part to make it three on Friday. The Tigers came out on top against the Western Reserve Blue Devils by a score of 17-6 thanks in part to Caldwell, who rushed for 118 yards and two scores. Springfield is undefeated when Caldwell posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.

Despite the loss, Western Reserve saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Timmy Serensky rushed for 92 yards and one touchdown.

Springfield's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Western Reserve, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Springfield will face off against rival Mineral Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Tigers 12.5, the Rams 13.4) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Western Reserve is set to take on their familiar foe Waterloo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
