Baseball Game Preview: West Aurora Blackhawks vs. Fenton Bison

The West Aurora Blackhawks will challenge the Fenton Bison at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Aurora is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

West Aurora barely beat Elgin the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blackhawks never let the Maroons get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the Blackhawks have won 13 matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Zach Toma was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last four games. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eliseo Liscano, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Zielke Elliot was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one triple.

Meanwhile, Fenton came up short against Ridgewood on Tuesday and fell 5-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Bison in their meetings with the Rebels: they've now lost seven in a row.

Fenton's loss dropped their record down to 5-23. As for West Aurora, their victory bumped their record up to 22-5.

Everything went West Aurora's way against Fenton in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as West Aurora made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Blackhawks repeat their success, or do the Bison have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
