Baseball Game Preview: West Broward Bobcats vs. Columbus Explorers

For the second straight game, West Broward will face off against Columbus. The Bobcats will be playing at home against the Explorers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (West Broward 3.2, Columbus 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

West Broward is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Columbus a 3-0 shutout. The game was the first time the Bobcats have beaten the Explorers on their field since February 19, 2020.

The result came thanks to Braden Aguila's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, West Broward's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ivan Sabater, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

West Broward is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Columbus, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 27-6.
