Softball Recap: Eastern Alamance Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Eastern Alamance had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Central Davidson Spartans. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans, too.

Delani Straughan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Carley Boggs and Brylea Warren did most of the damage at the plate: Boggs went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Warren scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That home run was Boggs' first of the season. Edie Stewart was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Eastern Alamance's record is now 4-2. As for Central Davidson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Eastern Alamance will face off against Weddington at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Weddington will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Eastern Alamance surely won't give up without a fight. As for Central Davidson, they will square off against Davie at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Davie's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Central Davidson's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
