Dominant offensive tackle helped Catholic Memorial reach the Division 2 semifinals.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.

Guerby Lambert of Catholic Memorial (West Roxbury) is the 2023 MaxPreps Massachusetts High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-6, 280-pound senior offensive tackle led the Knights to an 8-3 record and Division 2 semifinal appearance.

Regarded as a top 100 prospect in the Class of 2024 by 247Sports, Lambert is one of the most dominant linemen in the country, excelling in both run and pass blocking. He will participate in the All-American Bowl in January.

Lambert helped Catholic Memorial win state titles in 2021 and 2022. The Knights went 32-3 over his final three years of high school.

After fielding 19 FBS offers, Lambert committed to Notre Dame in September.

Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
