Recap: Pender Pendragons vs. Madison Dragons

The Pender Pendragons had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Madison 56-26 at home. With that win, Pender brought their scoring average up to 50.1 points per game.

Pender's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trevor Trimble led the charge by scoring 17 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Trimble has scored all season. Trent Hansen was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Madison's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Griffin Jordan, who scored seven points along with three blocks and two steals, and Jose Velez who scored eight points. Jordan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played.

Pender has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Madison, their loss was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-5.

Pender won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tri County Northeast on January 23rd. Tri County Northeast will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 208th, while Pender is ranked 93rd). Madison won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lyons-Decatur Northeast on January 23rd.
