Baseball Preview: Clever Blue Jays vs. Early Panthers
Clever has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Early Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Clever's favor is that they have posted big run totals in their last six matches.
Clever can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Buffalo as Clever made off with an 11-5 victory.
Meanwhile, Early entered their tilt with Galena with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They beat the Bears on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-3.
Landen Burrow was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits over six innings pitched. Burrow was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double.
In other batting news, Garret Loftis was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Clever pushed their record up to 14-7 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Early, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.
