            Football Recap: Mt. Pleasant Cardinals vs. Independence 76ers        
        
		
        
        
            Mt. Pleasant lost against Independence back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result  on Thursday. The Cardinals might be feeling deja-vu: they lost  25-20 to the 76ers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Cardinals gained 93 more yards on the day, but it was the 76ers that made the best use of them.
 Mt. Pleasant's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   FNU Shaf, who rushed for 82 yards and one  touchdown on only 11 carries. Shaf got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 56 yards.
Mt. Pleasant dropped their record down to 1-5 with the  loss, which was their third straight  on the road. As for Independence, their win  ended  a  four-game drought at home  dating back to last season and  bumped them up to 3-4.
 Mt. Pleasant has already played their next contest,  a  40-38  defeat against Yerba Buena on the 24th. As for Independence, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  matchup,  a  37-34  victory against James Lick on the 24th.
