Soccer Game Preview: Prairie View vs. Lakewood

The Prairie View Thunderhawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Lakewood Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Saturday, Prairie View didn't have quite enough to beat Eaglecrest and fell 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for Prairie View in their meetings with Eaglecrest: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Lakewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Brighton.

Lakewood's goal came courtesy of Eliza Bard, which was the first she's scored this season.

Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Prairie View, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Prairie View beat Lakewood by a goal when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Prairie View since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
