Baseball Game Preview: Brunswick School Bruins vs. Cheshire Academy Cats

The Brunswick School Bruins will square off against the Cheshire Academy Cats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Brunswick School is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Salisbury School just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Crimson Knights, falling 11-1.

Meanwhile, Cheshire Academy waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Griffins a 6-0 shutout. The Cats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Tyler Stone looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Luca Giannelli, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Chase Mendela was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Cheshire Academy pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average this season. As for Brunswick School, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
