Softball Game Preview: North Posey Vikings vs. Boonville Pioneers

The North Posey Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Boonville Pioneers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Posey will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

North Posey came out on top against Pike Central on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run first inning. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Chargers. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Paige Vaughn, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Madison Versteeg was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: North Posey kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Boonville didn't have quite enough to beat Evansville Mater Dei on Wednesday and fell 3-2. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

North Posey's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Boonville, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
