Soccer Recap: Shelby Takes a Loss

Shelby lost against Mansfield Christian back in August of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Whippets came up short against the Flames, falling 6-1. While losing is never fun, Shelby can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 276th, while Mansfield Christian are ranked 107th).

Shelby's goal came courtesy of Ashley Montgomery, who's now up to ten this season.

Shelby has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6-2 record this season. As for Mansfield Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shelby will square off against Pleasant at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Shelby will be up against Pleasant's rather soft defense (which has allowed 12 goals per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Mansfield Christian, they will welcome Edison at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
