Football Recap: Mid Valley Takes a Loss

If Mid Valley was riding high fresh off their 38-0 takedown of Western Wayne last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Spartans received a blow on Friday as they fell 28-14 to the Lakeland Chiefs. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chiefs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

David Naniewicz continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lakeland, rushing for 173 yards and two scores while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 143 yards and one touchdown. Those 173 rushing yards gave Naniewicz a new career-high. Gavin Roberts was another key player, rushing for 60 yards and one TD.

Mid Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Lakeland, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1.

Looking ahead, Mid Valley will head out to take on Carbondale Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakeland, they will be playing at home against Holy Redeemer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Chiefs will be up against the Royals' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
