Football Recap: Sterling Black Bears vs. Conway Springs Cardinals

Sterling lost against Conway Springs back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Sterling Black Bears were outmatched by the Conway Springs Cardinals at home and fell 41-14. The Black Bears haven't had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Sterling's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Zane Farney, who rushed for 167 yards while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and Wyatt Newberry, who rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown. Newberry was even better on defense, making 21 total tackles and defending two passes.

Even though they lost, Sterling was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 262 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 184 rushing yards in 11 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

It was another big night for Isaac Winter, who rushed for 189 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry for Conway Springs.
