Softball Recap: Waltrip Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Waltrip's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over the Madison Marlins. Considering the Rams have won eight contests by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ariana Molina made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Molina was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Danielle Ward was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Haley Allen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Waltrip's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Madison, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waltrip will face off against Sterling at 8:00 p.m. on March 17th. Waltrip's pitching crew has only allowed 1.1 runs per game this season, so Sterling's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Madison, they will square off against Galena Park at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
