Recap: Campo Verde Coyotes vs. Apollo Hawks
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Campo Verde Coyotes can now relate to. They suffered a rough 49-24 defeat at the hands of the Hawks on Friday. Campo Verde's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Campo Verde lost, one person who can't be blamed is Athan Ferber. Despite the final result, he rushed for 112 yards, and also caught a touchdown.
Adam Mohammed continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Apollo, rushing for 184 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry. Mohammed hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for nine straight games. Sylus Stevenson was another key contributor, rushing for 52 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Campo Verde's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Apollo, they have yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 11-1 record.
Campo Verde does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Apollo will head out on the road to face off against Higley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Higley is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
