Volleyball Recap: Madera South Takes a Loss

Madera South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Caruthers Blue Raiders, falling 3-0. If the Stallions were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Blue Raiders when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Madera South was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-16, 25-6.

Isabella Zaragosa paced Madera South's offense, picking up six kills. Zaragosa got some help from Liyah Chavira and her 15 assists. Zaragosa was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Madera South's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Caruthers, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2.

After both having extra time off, Madera South and Edison will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Caruthers, they will head out to square off against Coalinga at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
