Baseball Recap: Central Islip Comes Up Short

Central Islip was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 17-2 to the Longwood Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-3 last Monday.

Central Islip saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ian McGee, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Jonathan Rubio also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Central Islip's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Longwood, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

While Central Islip had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
