Basketball Recap: Holmes County Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

A well-balanced attack led Holmes County over Graceville in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Everything went the Holmes County Blue Devils' way against the Graceville Tigers as the Holmes County Blue Devils made off with a 61-36 victory. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Emma Whitkaer, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 12 boards. That's the most points she has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Adams, who posted ten points along with seven rebounds and six assists.

Holmes County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Graceville still got an impressive performance from Zaria Nedd, who earned 15 points in addition to seven boards and six blocks. Nedd has been hot, having posted two or more blocks the last seven times she's played. Sarinity Douglas was another key player, putting up nine points along with eight rebounds and six steals.

Holmes County pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25.6 points. As for Graceville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-3 record this season.

Holmes County has already played their next game, a 69-25 victory against Chipley on the 17th. As for Graceville, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Marianna at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th.
