Softball Recap: Dobson Drops Highest Score of Season Against Camelback

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dobson). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Camelback Spartans a 31-0 shutout on Monday. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by six runs or more this season.

Allie Hanson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, eight RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Dobson let Natalie Hamblin and Emrey Walker run wild. Hamblin went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while Walker went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Kiley Beard, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Dobson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .878. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Dobson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. Camelback's loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Dobson has already played their next contest, an 11-0 defeat against Gilbert on the 19th. As for Camelback, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 25-0 loss against West Point on the 19th.
