Basketball Game Preview: East Union Urchins vs. New Site Royals

East Union is 0-10 against New Site since January of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The East Union Urchins are taking a road trip to square off against the New Site Royals at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

East Union is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging an 88-52 victory over Hatley. Given the Urchins' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Tigers are ranked 253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, New Site was able to grind out a solid win over Mooreville on Friday, taking the game 61-53. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Royals.

New Site is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for East Union, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

East Union ended up a good deal behind New Site in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, losing 67-50. Can East Union avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
