Volleyball Recap: Westview Beats Gross Catholic for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Westview came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Gross Catholic Cougars by a score of 2-0. For the Wolverines, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 victory the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2023.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-23.

Josie Peatrowsky paced Westview's offense, picking up eight kills. Peatrowsky got some help from Rylee Meysenburg and her 21 assists.

Despite the loss, Gross Catholic still got an impressive performance from Justina Cronin, who had 13 digs. Mariah Dutcher also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Westview's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Gross Catholic, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-5 record.

Coincidentally, Westview and Gross Catholic will both be playing Norfolk the next time they take the court. The Cougars will head out to face the Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Wolverines will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
