Football Recap: Poly Parrots vs. Contreras Cobras
Poly and Contreras squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Poly had to settle for second. They took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cobras. The Parrots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Poly still got an impressive performance from George Flores, who rushed for 172 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 carries, and also threw for 120 yards and one touchdown while completing 78.6% of his passes.
Among those leading the charge was Chris Oxlaj, who rushed for 18 yards and a pair of scores. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).
Poly's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Contreras, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Poly does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Contreras, they will face off against Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Democrats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
