Softball Recap: Eastside Ghosts vs. Fair Lawn Cutters
Eastside had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-6 to make it eight. They came up short against the Fair Lawn Cutters, falling 19-1. The Ghosts were not able to make up for their loss to the Cutters from their previous meeting back in May of 2018.
As for Fair Lawn, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by eight runs or more this season.
For Fair Lawn's part, Chloe MacClements looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. MacClements has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Abby Watson, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those home runs were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Noa Specter, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Coming up, Eastside will welcome Roselle Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Fair Lawn, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Passaic Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
