Baseball Recap: Three Straight Road Wins for Cheyenne

Cheyenne lost to Cimarron-Memorial back in April of 2019, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. Cheyenne came out on top against Cimarron-Memorial by a score of 7-3.

Raider Campos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cheyenne let Tapa Gamoras and Adrian Catalan run wild. Gamoras scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Catalan went 1-for-4 with one home run. Gamoras also put up a home run, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Scott Cox, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Cheyenne lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Cheyenne's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cimarron-Memorial, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cheyenne will face off against Desert Pines at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cimarron-Memorial, they will take on Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
