Baseball Recap: Westover Christian Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Timberlake Christian last Tuesday, Westover Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Bulldogs came up short against the Roanoke Valley Christian EAGLES on Monday, falling 13-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the EAGLES this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-2 two weeks ago.

Westover Christian Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Silas Zeidler, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Zeidler has become a key player for the Bulldogs: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-5 otherwise.

Westover Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Roanoke Valley Christian, they moved to 5-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westover Christian Academy will take on Timberlake Christian in a tournament on Wednesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Tornadoes at the right time seeing as the Tornadoes are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Roanoke Valley Christian, they will be playing at home against Grace Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The EAGLES' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
