Baseball Game Preview: Saugus Sachems vs. Swampscott Big Blue

Saugus hasn't had much luck against Swampscott recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Sachems will face off against the Big Blue at 12:00 p.m. The last five games Saugus has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Saugus took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Bishop Fenwick 6-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Sachems as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Nathan Soroko was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Brayden Crawford, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Swampscott's offense. They fell 4-0 to Salem on Wednesday. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Big Blue were not able to get on the board.

Swampscott's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-4. As for Saugus, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 4-5.
