Basketball Recap: Seton Catholic Sentinels vs. Valley Christian Trojans
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 72-45, which was the final score in the Seton Catholic Sentinels's tilt against the Valley Christian Trojans on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Sentinels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Trojans are ranked 16th).
Despite the loss, Seton Catholic still got an impressive performance from Kj Fauske, who posted 15 points. Connor Rideout also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.
Carson Grier was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 17 rebounds for Valley Christian. That's the most points Grier has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Colby Jessup, who had 18 points and seven boards.
Seton Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Valley Christian, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Seton Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 57-48 victory against Apache Junction on the 14th. Valley Christian has also already played their next game, an 84-36 win against Coolidge on the 14th.
