Basketball Recap: Savannah Country Day Hornets vs. Hilton Head Christian Academy Eagles
If the Savannah Country Day Hornets were feeling good off their 47-27 takedown of the Long County Blue Tide last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Savannah Country Day lost to the Eagles on the road by a decisive 55-39 margin on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Savannah Country Day of the 52-28 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2020.
Tamya Hutchinson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 12 steals for Hilton Head Christian Academy. Morgan Scott was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Savannah Country Day's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5. As for Hilton Head Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Savannah Country Day will head out on the road to square off against the Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Georgia (Calvary Day is ranked 139th, while the Hornets are ranked 155th). As for Hilton Head Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodville-Tompkins is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
