Preview: Trinity Catholic Celtics vs. Fleming Island Golden Eagles
Trinity Catholic has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Fleming Island Golden Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Trinity Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Fleming Island likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, everything went Trinity Catholic's way against Bradford as Trinity Catholic made off with a 63-41 victory.
Trinity Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aariana Rose Gravel-holtzclaw out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. The game was Gravel-holtzclaw's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Alessa Washington was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, Fleming Island came up short against Buchholz on Thursday and fell 24-14. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Fleming Island has scored all season.
Ariana Pierce was Fleming Island's leading scorer, having posted five points. Pierce also led the team in rebounds with four.
London Jenkins took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Trinity Catholic pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Fleming Island, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's match: Trinity Catholic have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.3 threes per game. It's a different story for Fleming Island, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 threes per game. Given Trinity Catholic's sizeable advantage in that area, Fleming Island will need to find a way to close that gap.
