Preview: American Fork Cavemen vs. Lone Peak Knights
American Fork is 0-10 against Lone Peak since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The American Fork Cavemen will head out on the road to square off against the Lone Peak Knights at 6:00 p.m. American Fork will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Lone Peak is ranked fourth).
Last Tuesday, American Fork didn't have too much trouble with Pleasant Grove at home as they won 46-32.
Meanwhile, Lone Peak can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 69-30 win over Skyridge. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Lone Peak has posted since December 5, 2023.
Lone Peak's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sarah Bartholomew led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six rebounds. Shawnee Nordstrom was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with three steals.
American Fork is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for Lone Peak, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-6.
American Fork was dealt a bruising 59-21 loss at the hands of Lone Peak in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Thankfully for American Fork, Kailey Woolston (who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 4 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
