Xavier College Prep put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 108-18 victory over Buena. Given Xavier College Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Buena is ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Xavier College Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dominique Nesland led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 14 assists. The contest was Nesland's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Irene (Noelle) Guiamatsia, who scored 18 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Phoenix Country Day put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Trivium Prep on the road to the tune of 81-28.
Xavier College Prep's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 86.5 points per game. As for Phoenix Country Day, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
