Basketball Recap: Licking Heights Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Licking Heights was riding high fresh off their 61-40 takedown of Zanesville last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Licking Heights Hornets took a 63-46 bruising from the Pickerington North Panthers on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Panthers are ranked 13th).

Pickerington North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Arness Lawson led the charge by going 7 for 15 on his way to 15 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. Lawson's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jr Bates, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

Licking Heights' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3. As for Pickerington North, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0.

Licking Heights will challenge Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on January 4th. Licking Heights is facing Lincoln at the right time seeing as Lincoln is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Pickerington North, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-62 victory against St. Edward on the 28th.
