Softball Preview: Woden Eagles vs. West Sabine Tigers
The Woden Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the West Sabine Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Woden is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
Things were looking good for Woden after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Timpson by a score of 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one run.
Riley Taylor put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Taylor was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Jolette Montoya was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when West Sabine took on Brookeland on Tuesday. The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw.
With that draw, West Sabine's record moves to 17-9-1. As for Woden, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Woden came up short against West Sabine in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 6-2. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
