Basketball Recap: Clayton Valley Charter Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Clayton Valley Charter and Destiny Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Clayton Valley Charter had to settle for second. They fell 55-42 to the Destiny Christian Academy Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-40 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Clayton Valley Charter lost, don't look at Elijah Perryman. Despite the final result, he shot 43% from the field on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. Vince Ellis was another key player, putting up six points.

Destiny Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Frederick Blue, who posted 15 points and six boards. That's the most points Blue has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Valdez, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 15 points and six rebounds.

With the loss, Clayton Valley Charter broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 23-13. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points over those games. As for Destiny Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 22-12 record this season.

Clayton Valley Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Destiny Christian Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 65-55 defeat against Jesuit on the 11th.
