Basketball Game Preview: Clovis West Golden Eagles vs. Lincoln Trojans

The Clovis West Golden Eagles will head out to square off against the Lincoln Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Clovis West heads in on the heels of a playoff match two weeks ago. They took an 81-66 bruising from San Joaquin Memorial. The Golden Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jace Kellogg, who went 9-for-19 en route to 22 points. His big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Espinoza, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 18 points.

Meanwhile, Lincoln faced Modesto Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Lincoln fell to Modesto Christian 74-70. The Trojans' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Like Clovis West, Lincoln lost despite seeing results from several players. Anthony Moore led the charge by going 8-for-15 on his way to 24 points. That's the most points Moore has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Donez Lindsey, who shot 42% from the field en route to 21 points.

Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 27-4. As for Clovis West, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-17.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Clovis West has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 21.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Clovis West skirted past Lincoln 68-66 in their previous matchup back in December of 2017. Will Clovis West repeat their success, or does Lincoln have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
