Basketball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Veterans' Winning Streak

Veterans lost against Tift County two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Warhawks took a 69-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils. The Warhawks' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Veterans saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tre Embry went 6-for-13 on his way to 20 points along with five boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Embry has scored all season. Jaylen Wilson was another key player, shooting 71% from the field en route to 13 points.

Veterans' loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Tift County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Veterans has already played their next game, a 62-60 victory against Warner Robins on the 6th. As for Tift County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lee County at 7:30 p.m.
