Baseball Recap: Steubenville Comes Up Short

If Steubenville was feeling good fresh off their 15-4 takedown of Weir on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Big Red fell 8-4 to the Edison Wildcats on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Big Red of the 6-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

AJ Borsch was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

In other batting news, Royal Mayo was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples and three runs.

Steubenville's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Edison, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3.

Coming up, Steubenville will square off against East Liverpool at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Edison, they will face off against Brooke at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
