Recap: Whitko Wildcats vs. Lakeland Christian Academy Cougars
The Whitko Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 77-33 victory over Lakeland Christian Academy. Winning may never get old, but Whitko sure is getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Leading Whitko to victory were Jayma Stonebraker and Kloe Krieg. Stonebraker scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals, while Krieg went 7 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 35 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Krieg has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Stonebraker, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Lakeland Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Katie Reimink, who scored 16 points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
Whitko pushed their record up to 17-3 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Lakeland Christian Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-13.
Whitko won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Southwood on January 24th. Southwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 315th, while Whitko is ranked 91st). As for Lakeland Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Lakewood Park Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
