Baseball Recap: Hillcrest Takes a Loss

Hillcrest extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 12-13 in the process. They fell 7-2 to the Greenwood Eagles. The Rams were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 11-3.

Hillcrest saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Shipman, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Greenwood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-12. Seven seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

On Greenwood's side, Elliott Lantz looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Godwin, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameson Pate, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

While Hillcrest had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
